IRHA Stallion Stakes

The Program
This program is designed to enroll stallions, giving these nominated stallions and their offspring a place to compete for a substantial purse at our 2013 IRHA Fall Futurity & Derby. There will be two divisions, Open and Non Pro, in both Futurity and Derby. This means that each stallion has the opportunity of being nominated in two areas, each of which will have two divisions, giving stallions and/or their offspring the opportunity to score well and be rewarded financially in four divisions. The Intermountain Reining Horse Association is a not for profit organization, and is an affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association. The IRHA was formed to promote this exciting sport, and our stallion stakes program was formed to promote reining stallions and their offspring. These stallion stakes will therefore payout a high percentage of the money for nominations and distribute it as widely as possible.
IRHA believes that many stallion owners are already breeding for athleticism, natural ability and a good mind that are required to make a reining horse. IRHA would like this opportunity to help stallion owners promote their stallions, their offspring and their breeding program.
Each enrolled stallion will receive benefits through out the 2013 show season and into the early months of 2014. This should help promote both the enrolled stallions and the IRHA. This program will promote nominated stallions at our local level which in return should increase demand for the nominated stallion and their offspring.

Payouts

Enrollment fees and additional paid entries in the specific Stakes classes will be put into separate accounts (Futurity and Derby) and divided up as follows:
  • 10% to be used by IRHA for advertising and operating expenses.
  • 20% will go to the Sire Awards; these are evenly split among the classes and will be given to the person paying the nomination fee of the sire (or the nominated stallion himself, if shown) of the winning horse of each class.
  • Jackpot will calculated based on the number of stallions enrolled and the additional paid entries in the specific Stakes classes (Open or Non Pro), less the above stated fees.
  • 70% will be jackpotted for the stallion stakes classes at our Fall Futurity and Derby show.
  • 60% of the payout will go to the Open Classes , 40% to the Non Pro Classes.
  • Number of places paid out will be in accordance with the NRHA Payout schedule.
